The bucolic city of Asheville, North Carolina was once the home of analog synth pioneer Robert Moog, and these days, the town pays tribute to Moog by hosting Moogfest, an annual three-day music festival of synth-friendly artists. As the Audio Perv points out, the folks behind the festival just announced the initial lineup for this year's festival, which goes down October 28-30, and it is pretty stacked.

The bill currently features the Flaming Lips, Passion Pit, Crystal Castles, M83, Battles, Toro Y Moi, Matthew Dear, Twin Shadow, Chromeo, Ford & Lopatin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Tim Hecker, Holy Fuck, Gold Panda, Austra, Little Dragon, Mayer Hawthorne and the County, and Anika. Postpunk pioneers Suicide will perform their classic self-titled debut album in full, and pioneering synth-prog types Tangerine Dream and Adrian Belew Power Trio will also perform. And if you like jam bands, the fest has a few of those, too.

Below, we've got a low-budget video of a karate-kicking spaceman introducing the fest's lineup.
