Reward offered for information in homicide of 12-year-old Asheville boy

The Asheville-Buncombe Crime Stoppers is facilitating a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the open homicide investigation of Derrick Lee, Jr., 12, of Asheville.

On the morning of July 1, 2018, at approximately 3:07 am, the Asheville Police Department received reports of individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in Lee Walker Heights. Upon arrival officers located two male victims, ages 12 and 18. Both were transported to Mission Hospital.

The 12-year-old victim, Derrick LaQuinn Lee, Jr., succumbed to his injuries. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. No suspects are in custody at this time.
