All Growing Minds lesson plans include connections to age-appropriate children’s literature and are aligned with Common Core State Standards, NC Essential Standards, or NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development.

Seasonal Resources

Farmers grow many types of greens, including lettuce, kale, collards, arugula, Swiss chard, and spinach. Enjoy fresh greens like lettuce and spinach in salads or on sandwiches for a delicious local lunch. Fun fact: darker green lettuce leaves are more nutritious than lighter green leaves.

Free Seeds for Farm to School Programs!

Seed bundles are now available for school gardens! These free seeds available to public and private pre-K through 12 schools located in ASAP's Appalachian Grown region.
 
This year we have created seed bundles which contain 10 packets of seeds, each containing a different variety of fruits, vegetables, and other unique plants! You may take one bundle and choose an extra two packets of herbs and/or flowers of your liking at the time of pickup.
 
Educators can contact Sabrina Brooks at [email protected] or 828-236-1282 to schedule a time to pick up seeds from the ASAP office in Asheville Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NEW "I Tried Local..." Toolkit

We are excited to introduce our new immersive farm to school resource, “I Tried Local…” A Toolkit for Engaging Kids with Local Food and Farms. It is designed for use in early care and education (ECE) through second grade, and gives educators tools to connect kids with how food is grown and the farmers in their communities who grow it. Learn more here!
