Group Exhibition: “A Walk in the Woods” at Artsville Collective

  • This event has passed.

August 5, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Free

Five guest artists approach the glory of our Carolina woodlands with fresh takes on nature through their personal perspectives. Not at all what you would expect, their viewpoints reveal Appalachia through a fresh lens, inspired by fall and full of surprises for all leaf-peepers. Within each piece, there is a story that will encourage a visit to Artsville’s gallery and podcast. On view: the face jugs of Jim McDowell, “The Black Potter,” fall landscapes from watercolorist Bronwen McCormick, nature inspired basket “illusion” from woodturner Jo Miller, reimagined landscape photography from Ellen Golden and magical woodland scenes from encaustics artist, Mary Farmer. Also on display will be the work of Artsville founding artists Louise Glickman; quilted landscapes using carefully selected plan materials and from Daryl Slaton, pop characters with augmented reality. Meet woodland spirit Jakodi, a soothing soul that brings darkness to light through his magical flute and gentle animation.

“A Walk in the Woods” is on display at Artsville Collective at Marquee in the River Arts District from Friday, August 5 through Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Marquee in the RAD. More information is at https://sandhillartists.com
